Eating Healthy

I'm not the best example of healthy living. However, it's something more of us need to do. It's not just about cutting calories, fat,or even carbs. It's about cutting out the junk food and eating whole foods the way nature intended. Just that alone (in addition to a meager amount of exercise) would work wonders. I can only speak for myself BUT when I cut back on the carbs and increased my intake of quality meat and veggies the weight poured off me. I regained the health and the luster of years passed.

One of the best sources for healthy living is The Weston A. Price Foundation .

"Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects" - Weston A. Price

As I mentioned earlier - an eating plan that works best for me is a modified cave man diet (NeanderThin,The Blood Type Diet,The Atkins Diet,The No Grain Diet, and etc) or better known as a low carb diet

Click here to read about this man's success story.

The food pyramid the F.D.A. advises is the same diet used to fatten cattle. As a result the obese epidemic is at an all time high and the percentage of people diagnosed with diabetes is higher than ever. It's all a result of taking faulty advice given by the very people we should be able to trust most.

One income isn't enough to support a family anymore - with the man and the woman having to work just to stay afloat. This leaves both partners too tired to prepare and cook the food. It's easier to pick up some fast food and eat it on the way home after work. Long gone is the stable economy of our parents and grandparent's era. Back then an impoverished man earned enough to support his family - with a stay-at-home wife and the whole nine yards. Not anymore. Do you think this is coincidence?

This is the way we're supposed to be eating!

Food to avoid:
· Grains- bread, pasta, noodles, and rice
· Beans- string beans, kidney beans, lentils, peanuts, snow-peas and peas
· Potatoes
· Dairy products
· processed sugar
· salt
Food to consume:
· meat, chicken and fish
· eggs
· fruit
· vegetables ( root vegetables - excluding potatoes or sweet potatoes)
· nuts and seeds (walnuts, brazil nuts, macadamia, almond)
· berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and more)
 Consume more of the following:
· root vegetables- carrots, turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, Swedes
· organ meats- liver, kidneys, heart, and etc

A good food ration to hold you over if you're out and about and unable to cook up a quick meal is pemmican.

As with anything, do your home work and know what you're getting yourself into before you start. Good luck!

  1. I agree wholeheartedly. I was a vegetarian for years, a vegan for a short time, and now try to eat mostly fruits and vegetables, some whole grains, and organic meat every once in a while. It's amazing how much better you feel once you change your diet. The old cliche, "You are what you eat," really is true. If you eat terrible, you will feel terrible (and might not even realize it until you start eating differently!)

  2. I concur. I tried being a vegetarian for a year and it had an adverse affect on me. I feel better when I eat healthy. It's no wonder why there's so many sick people nowadays. A person can't keep putting poison in their body and expect it to function at it's highest capacity - to say the least.
