Don't just talk the talk, Walk the walk.

Can you imagine just taking off one day and beginning a journey that will take you from one coast to the other - all on foot? No job. No companions. No money. Nothing but yourself and your own thoughts? It's been done before and it's being done now too. There comes a time in some people's lives that they just can't continue with the daily grind of working day in and day out. And for what? Security? A roof over over your head? A car payment? The fear of not being perceived as a "productive" member of society?

According to this article that's exactly what 24 year old Catherine Li has done.

Then you have Mike who began his walk in order to loose weight and attain the love of his life. I hope he finds what he's looking for but in this day and age that's unlikely. I know he means well but times change and what was practical in a bygone age simply is no more. He should probably focus on his health and just enjoying the moment..

Click here to watch a video about Peace Pilgrim. This woman was amazing. She didn't just talk the talk. She walked the walk - literally. She started in 1953 and didn't stop until 1981 when she passes away at the age of 73.

"This is the way of peace:
  Overcome evil with good,
  and falsehood with truth,
  and hatred with love."
                   ....

Sadly, attachment is what keeps us doing the things we'd rather do. We're too afraid of what others will think of us. We want the latest gadgets with all the flash and glitter that comes along with it. Never mind that over time the newness wears off and our interests move to bigger and brighter things. We're never really satisfied and yet we keep plugging away - and more often than not it's some "mc job" barely making ends meet. What's the point? The very socioeconomic system we're living in is on a downward spiral with no hope in sight of things improving.

Sometimes you just gotta let it go! It's not worth getting stressed out over - whatever it may be. Times are changing and while it's not all for the good it's not all for the bad. Perhaps it's a time of self reflection and figuring out what's truly important in life and let all the unnecessary wants, hopes, and despair go.

Do you really need to work that extra shift? Do you really need to buy that new 3 D television? Come on! Life's short. Forget it. Go outside, enjoy the beauty of nature. Feel the wind blowing through your hair. Now is the only thing that's real. So what are you waiting for? Just go out there and do it!

"Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry — all forms of fear — are cause by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence" - Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now - Page 50)

  1. I've been out of the loop for awhile. Great post Ben. As always, I always enjoy reading what you have to say. I feel the same way about your blog too Mr. Suelo.
